Other character’s Path Actions let you add NPCs to your party, gather information needed to complete side quests, or challenge NPCs to duels.Įvery character also has a Talent that's useful in battle. For example, Therion the Thief has a Path Action called Steal that lets him steal items from NPCs. Don’t forget to assign them.Įach character has a Path Action that lets them interact with NPCs in special ways. They unlock automatically but are not automatically assigned to the character. Passive skills are acquired once the character has four active skills. All the active skills are available from the start but the cost for each skill increases dramatically with each one you buy. As noted above, your first character is locked in, but the others can be swapped out whenever you visit a tavern. You can have at most four characters in your party including your starting character. Once you start a character’s first chapter, you have to finish it before you can enter a different area on the map. The story begins with the new character alone and progresses to a boss fight at the end of the chapter that involves the whole party. Speaking to a character when you arrive in their city will start the first chapter of their story. Each character has their own starting city and you can fast travel at any time to any city you’ve already visited. You can add the characters in any order you choose. You are free to begin adding characters to your party after you finish the first chapter for your starting character. If multiple characters are listed, you can switch as soon as you see the first character’s travel banter or take both with you for that section of the story. If the instructions say “Immediately”, then go directly back to the pub, avoiding the area where the next cutscene takes place. Follow the instructions about who to have in your party and when. There is travel banter for every combination of characters in every chapter, and this guide will show you how to view them all! It most often takes place between cutscenes or when entering a new area. Travel banter can happen anytime between that and after you beat the boss of the chapter. Once you enter the town with that character, the chapter may begin. The map will show you where each character’s chapter begins. This guide is to inform you who to have and when to have them. The trick is, you have to have both party members in your party at the right time. You can first see travel banter during Chapter 2 of a character’s storyline.
